Ohio Leadership Institute

Population Connection to host facilitator training institute, July 31 - August 1, 2010, at the Mohican Resort and Conference Center in Ashland County, Ohio.

The Institute 

Since 1990, Population Connection (formerly ZPG) has been hosting train-the-trainer institutes to prepare educators to facilitate workshops using our hands-on curricula. During our institutes, we demonstrate a range of teaching activities, share presentation ideas and discuss the many social and ecological issues related to population growth and resource use dynamics. The upcoming institute will be the first to be held in Ohio.

 

The learning sessions and materials are designed to prepare educators to present population workshops to teachers and future teachers in Ohio. The institute is a must for science, social studies, and mathematics methods faculty, as well as non-formal educators who work with teachers at science museums and nature centers. Classroom teachers who are regular conference and professional development presenters will also find it valuable.

 

Resources 

For those chosen to attend the institute, a travel reimbursement of up to $100 will be available. Population Connection will also cover two nights lodging at the Mohican Resort for Friday and Saturday.  Check out the Mohican's website for more details about the lodge.

 

Participants will also receive an extensive handbook of training materials, correlations of our curricula to the Ohio Academic Content Standards, and the latest edition of Population Connection's award-winning DVD, World Population, (featured at the Columbus Zoo).
